”Michelle photographed the birth of our beautiful little boy Oliie. As a midwife and first-time mother, I think labour and birth are a beautiful sacred part of a woman’s life which I wanted to capture. I didn’t want the pressure for my partner to take photos as I wanted him present with me and him in the photos (he was in no state to even think about taking photos haha, which means I would have ended up with no photos of this life-changing event!).

Michelle was nothing but amazing! From the first phone call, I knew she was who I wanted to be in my birth space. We kept in regular contact which I was grateful for. Once I was contracting regularly at home my partner contacted her to let her know and then contacted her again when I was ready to go to the hospital. In my birth room at the Gold Coast University Hospital birth centre Michelle was so quiet and respectful. I didn’t even know she was there. She was so kind to my partner who was clearly very nervous helping him put up fairy lighting etc.

She was present for our labour, birth and postnatal care and she captured the most beautiful photos I will cherish forever! I’m so grateful! Every time I look at our picture gallery I still see new photos I feel like I’ve never seen before and just cannot believe my partner and I did it! I did it! Even though it didn’t all go to “plan”, I have the photos of what my birth was and I’m so proud!
